Police arrests two persons linked with arms training in Assam school

Besides arms training, the youths are also trained in martial arts and survival skills
Assam police have arrested two persons in connection with arms training of 350 youths of the state by the Rashtriya Bajrang Dal at Maharishi Vidya Mandir school in Mangaldai district of Assam. The arrests were made after a video of the arms training camp went viral on social media.
In the video, the youths were seen practicing gunfire at the school premises.
The arrested members are identified as Vijay Ghosh and Gopal Bodo.
Besides arms training, the youths are also trained in martial arts and survival skills.
The members of Bajrang Dal were arrested after Assam DGP GP Singh instructed the Darrang Police to register a case under appropriate sections of the law and investigate the matter.
“Reference Mangaldai video – SP @Darrang_Police has been instructed to register a case under appropriate sections of law & investigate the matter and take lawful action. @assampolice @CMOfficeAssam,” DGP GP Singh tweeted.
On August 1, police detained two persons related to the case, Hemanta Payeng, president of the school’s managing committee, and Ratan Das, an employee. However, they were released on bail.
Whereas two more persons involved in the arms training—Abhijit Ghosh and Subrata Ghosh are absconding.
It is being alleged that Abhijeet Ghosh was conducting arms training on the school premises on the pretext of yoga without the permission of the school administration.
The four-day training exercise began on July 27 and culminated on July 30.
