The protest erupted after the suspension of Nongmak Sekmai PS OC in connection with the viral video case
Massive protests broke out at Nongpok Sekmai in Manipur’s Thoubal after people in hundreds stormed the Police Station, demaning the resignation of all 60 MLAs.
The protest comes after officer in-charge of the Nongpok Sekmai Police Station, Keisham Premkumar Mangang, was suspended in connection with the horrific sexual assault case of May 4, the video of which had gone viral shocking the entire world.
The protestors said that if OC of Nongpok Sekmai Police Station can be suspended for failing to control the mob on May 4, then all 60 MLAs must also resign from their posts for failing to control the violence in the state.
The protestors demanded to speak with SP Thoubal, however Additional SP Ops O. Wangkhomba arrived at the spot and met the protestors instead.
The protestors even locked the gate of the police station and demanded the revocation of the suspension order.
