July has been a love-filled month and been in the news for unique cross-border love stories. Social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, snapchat and gaming platforms like PUBG have played a crucial role in connecting hearts and uniting people across borders.
Let’s take a look at some of the trending cross-border love stories and the challenges the lovers went through to meet the love of their life.
Julie-Ajay
Julie, a woman from Bangladesh, travelled to India with her 11-year-old daughter Halima to marry her lover, Ajay, from UP’s Moradabad. Both met each other on Facebook.
Julie converted to Hinduism after marrying Ajay. After a year, Julie decided to take Ajay to Bangladesh to meet her parents.
Recently, Ajay’s mother approached the Uttar Pradesh police to bring back her son from Bangladesh after she received a photo of her son soaked in blood from a Bangladeshi number. Ajay’s mother has alleged that Julie’s marriage to her son was a conspiracy.
However, there’s a twist. Ajay, who recently returned to Moradabad, told the police that he had never been to Bangladesh and said that he had been living near the West Bengal border in a rented house.
A senior police officer stated that Ajay had previously, during a police investigation, confessed to going to Bangladesh. The police are now keeping a close watch on him.
Seema Haider and Sachin Meena
As filmy as it gets, Seema Ghulam Haider, a Pakistani woman, fell in love with Sachin Meena from India, who travelled all the way to India, leaving her husband and four children, via Dubai to Nepal, and then to India on a bus to meet the love of her life, Sachin.
However, their love took a tragic turn after both the couple were arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police on July 4. Seema Haider, who is accused of entering India illegally, has been under the radar of security agencies on suspicion of being a Pakistani spy.
Seema, 30, and Sachin, 25, got in touch while playing PUBG in 2019.
Anju-Nasrullah
Anju, an Indian woman, traveled to Pakistan on a ‘valid Pakistani visa’ to meet her Facebook friend Nasrullah. Anju converted to Islam and was named Fatima, and both reportedly tied the knot on July 25.
Anju, who used to live with her husband and two children in Rajasthan’s Alwar district, told everyone that she was going to Jaipur to meet her friends.
However, videos of Anju with Nasrullah in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, probably part of the pre-wedding shoot, went viral on social media.
Another video of the couple enjoying dinner has surfaced.
Anju met Nasrullah in 2019 on Facebook. She left home on July 20. Nasrullah said Anju would return to India on August 20 after her visa expires.
Gao Feng-Javed
Gao Feng, a Chinese woman, travelled to Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to marry Javed, a Pakistani man. They met each other on Snapchat. Both got married on Wednesday. Gao Feng converted to Islam, and her new name is Kiswa.
The Chinese woman arrived in Islamabad last week by road from China via Gilgit on a three-month visa visit.
