Police investigates political angle into the assault of West Shillong MLA’s brother

Meghalaya police said that the possibility of a political rivalry cannot be ruled out in the assault and robbery case of Rishan Rapsang, brother of West Shillong legislator Mohendro Rapsang.

East Khasi Hills SP, Davis Marak said that the police have detained and are questioning some suspects who may be behind the attack. The police is also probing all aspects of a political angle into the incident.
However, the police also have not ruled out any possibility of robbery. CCTV footage showed the masked assailant hitting Rishan after which he fell down unconscious. The miscreant fled away from the scene after snatching his bag. The SP said that as per the victim, the bag contained Rs 9 lakhs.
