Asked if Nagaland could play a role in bringing peace in Manipur, CM Rio cited Manipur CM’s statement yesterday asking other states not to interfere

In a recent development concerning the transportation of illegal arms and ammunition to Manipur, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio affirmed that the law would take its course against the erring police officer and five other accused involved in the incident.

Addressing the media, Chief Minister Rio stated, “They are arrested and the investigation is going on, so I think the law will take its course.”

When questioned about the role of the state in bringing peace to Manipur, Chief Minister Rio referred to a statement made earlier by Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh on not interfering with their state’s personal matters.

According to Rio, Manipur CM Biren Singh had asked not only the European Parliament but the entire North East region to refrain from interfering in Manipur’s internal problems. Rio declined to comment further on the matter.

“We have seen the statement of Chief Minister this morning, he not only asked the European Parliament but the entire North East not to interfere in their internal problems so I am not going to comment anything on it”, said Rio

Regarding the anticipated tripartite talk involving the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO), Chief Minister Rio clarified that the schedule for the dialogue’s commencement would depend on the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). He further assured that once the talks begin, the details would be shared with the people, emphasizing transparency and inclusivity in the process.

However, when questioned about the Framework Agreement, Chief Minister Rio chose to refrain from commenting, stating, “Framework is Framework, discussion is going on, we have nothing to say.”
