In a heartfelt gesture, IndiGo Airlines recently hosted a true national hero, Subedar Major Sanjay Kumar, on one of its Pune-bound flights. The war veteran, who received the prestigious Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest military award for valor, was felicitated by the aircraft crew before take-off, an event that has garnered widespread admiration and respect on social media.
The heartwarming incident took place on Sunday when Captain Edsel, the pilot of the flight, took to the intercom to share the distinguished passenger’s story with the entire aircraft.
Captain Edsel introduced Subedar Major Sanjay Kumar as a recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, honoring his immense bravery and sacrifices for the nation.
The video of the aircraft crew paying tribute to the war hero was shared on IndiGo’s official Twitter handle and has since gone viral, amassing over 2 lakh views and counting. The caption read, “Flying with a hero: Subedar Major Sanjay Kumar ji, a Living Param Veer Chakra awardee.”
