American singer Mary Jorie Millben expressed her heartfelt grief for the women who were assaulted in Manipur. The singer lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public address to the appalling incident and called for swift justice for the victims.

Taking to Twitter, Millben wrote, “My heart grieves for the women assaulted in #Manipur. Thank you PM @narendramodi for publicly addressing this inhuman behavior. These women are not only daughters of #India, they are children of God. Human dignity matters to us all. I’m praying for these precious women and for swift justice.”

The horrifying incident, which occurred on May 4, recently came to the world’s attention when a viral video of the women being paraded naked surfaced. The internet service in Manipur, however, remained restricted, leading to delayed dissemination of the video, which subsequently shocked the nation and made global headlines.

In response to the video, authorities acted swiftly, leading to the arrest of four individuals on Thursday.

The incident has elicited widespread condemnation from various quarters, with political leaders across party lines, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Chief Ministers of several states, and numerous Bollywood celebrities expressing their outrage.
