Assam: 2 incidents of mugging raise question on law and order

Police probe into both the incidents are underway

In a sensational incident a woman was left seriously injured as miscreants with sharp weapons attacked and robbed her. The incident took place last night in Guwahati’s Bamunimaidan area.

The robbers fled the scene after looting the woman of her jewellery and cash.

Another incident of robbery was reported from Chaygaon. A man was robbed of Rs 5 lakh by a gang of 5 miscreants in Chaygaon’s Goroimari area last night.

The incident took place when the victim was on his way back home after closing his shop for the night. The robbers attacked the man with a knife and fled with the cash.

The victim raised an alarm as the robbers were trying to flee, following which locals managed to catch one of the robbers, but the other four managed to escape.

The robber who was caught was handed over to the police.

The victim was seriously injured in the attack and has been admitted to GMCH for treatment.
