Crackdown on Cybercrime: Police recovers 521 ATM cards from Morigaon

The cybercriminals have been looting crores of rupees deposited under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana in the name of fake beneficiaries by extracting ATMs
In a massive crackdown on cybercrime, the Morigaon police busted a gang of cybercriminals in Morigaon, Assam, and recovered 521 ATM cards from their possession.
In a joint operation led by Additional SP Samiran Baishya, the Crime Branch of Morigaon Police arrested 8 persons who have been looting crores of rupees deposited under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana in the name of fake beneficiaries by extracting ATMs.
The main mastermind, Diluwar Hussain, has also been arrested from Guwahati’s Hatigaon area.
As per the police, all the ATM cards are from the Central Bank of India.
The police also seized several SIM cards, photographs of different people, and application forms.
“We are investigating in whose name the ATM cards have been issued and how much money has been deposited in the account,” said the police.
The police said that they are trying to find out if more people are involved and that action will be taken as per law.
Diluwar Hussain will be produced before the court today.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, each farmer receives an amount of Rs 24,499.
