Manipur farmers return to their fields under security cover

Around 2200 security personnel have been deployed to guard farmers engaged in cultivation in trouble-torn areas of the state

Agricultural activities have slowly resumed in Manipur under the watch and safety provided by security forces.

Farmers can now hope to grow their crops and sustain their livelihood which came to a standstill with the ongoing conflict in the state.

Earlier, farmers in the conflict areas were apprehensive that they may not be able to plant their crops in time with the arrival of the plantation season.

Team Northeast Live visited Moidangpok under Imphal West District, where farmers carried out their agricultural activities under the protection provided by State and Central Security forces.

Notably, the state government had reduced the security deployment for VIPs, Ministers, MLAs, politicians and bureaucrats.

Around 2200 security personnel have been deployed to guard farmers engaged in cultivation in trouble-torn areas of the state.

The development came after the state government formed a state level monitoring committee in regards of agriculture activities.
