Meghalaya reservation issue: UDP submits recommendations to state government

The UDP is the first among the political parties to submit its recommendation to the government.

The United Democratic Party (UDP) has submitted its recommendations to the Meghalaya government on the reservation issue.

UDP general secretary Jemino Mawthoh handed over the recommendations to the Chairperson of the all party committee and minister Ampareen Lyngdoh this evening.

The UDP is the first among the political parties to submit its recommendation to the government.

As per inputs, the UDP had 14 meetings with legal experts and academicians and has come up with eight observations which the party wants the expert committee to examine thoroughly. The UDP said that the observations are not discriminatory.

“Our party has also incorporated in our manifesto during the previous assembly election about the review of the reservation policy. Accordingly when the Chairperson of the all party committee requested for the observation and recommendation of the political parties, so we also have done our bit,” Jemino Mawthoh said.
