CAG report: Meghalaya PAC seeks answer from government

The Meghalaya Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has given the state Chief Secretary, finance principal secretary a month’s time to act on its recommendation of taking action against those officials involved in various anomalies detected in the CAG report.
PAC member, HM Shangpliang said that the state chief secretary, Y Tsering and principal finance secretary were summoned in this regard. He informed that the committee is waiting for the submission of report by the Chief Secretary. As part of its drive against those corrupt the PAC summoned the PWD department and the mining and geology department today.
According to the PAC chairman, Charles Pyngrope Rs 42 lakhs was wasted for the construction of a one time helipad at Umsawli in new Shillong township during the year 2006-07 while the Mining and geology department was summoned for not utilising the drilling machine send by the Indian Bureau of mines.
