In order to enquire about the recent clash in Shillong, a three-member team of the National Human Rights Commission today met the representatives of the security forces, district magistrates and both the parties involved in the Shillong unrest.
Rajbir Singh, a member of the NHRC, said that the main purpose of their visit is to enquire about the recent clash in Shillong. He further said that they are presently obtaining reports from the state authorities and will leave for Delhi on Friday.
Another member of the team, IP Singh said that they have met government officials from the Urban department, the Magistrate and officials from the police department. He added that after acquiring all the documents and records, they will compile the findings and submit it to the commission as soon as possible.
Earlier, the team had visited the Sweeper Colony in Shillong yesterday and interacted with the residents of the area to take stock of the situation.
