In a significant move, the Tripura government has made Permanent Resident Certificate of Tripura (PRCT) mandatory for all state government jobs.
Briefing the media regarding the Cabinet decisions, Tripura Minister for Tourism Sushanta Chowdhury said that though the PRCT has been made mandatory, relaxations would be made in special cases for the recruitment of some special personnel or filling certain specific posts.
“If eligible candidates are not found in the state, candidates from outside the state would be allowed to apply for the posts,” Minister Sushanta Chowdhury added.
The Minister also informed that the state government has decided to procure 35,000 MT of paddy directly from the farmers and that 40 procurement centres will be established across the state.
“Till now 9 times procurement has taken place and in total 1.71 lakh MT paddy has been procured by which the farmer of the state received Rs 327 Cr. At present the minimum support price of paddy is Rs 20.40. In the coming phase of paddy procurement in total at 40 procurement centres shall be established across the state and the process is going to start by coming July 10,” Sushanta Chowdhury added.
“Farmers are going to receive the money for their paddy in three days’ time from the procurement date, and the total expenditure will be Rs 85.64 crore, which includes the cost of milling and transportation. This will largely benefit the farmers and rural economy of the state,” Sushanta Chowdhury further added.
Replying to a question regarding whether the cabinet had any discussion regarding giving more power to the TTAADC or directly funding it, the Minister said that it lies with the central government to decide, and no such issue has come to the attention of the state government as of now.
