With monsoons lashing out in different parts of Assam, the state is reeling under severe floods.
The situation is especially grim in the State’s Charaideo district where more than 50 villages have been affected and as per reports, it is due to heavy rain in neighbouring states of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh that the situation has remained grim in the area.
One person from Kolakota village of Charaideo district has drowned in the flood waters. The person has been identified as Babul Gogoi. So a tragic incident at Charaideo.
Situation is worst in Charaideo district’s Sonari. The raging flood waters of the Teok river today washed away the No 7 ward office under the Sonari municipal corporation. Several people have been trapped due to the rising flood waters in the region.
Meanwhile, flood situation in Assam’s Lakhimpur also remains grim as water level of Ranganadi River continues to flow above the danger level mark. Mid-term examinations in many schools of the district had to be postponed due to floods.
