A seven-year-old girl died after getting buried under a mound of mud near a steep mud hill that had recently been bulldozed in Tripura’s Gomati district.
One other child also suffered serious injuries in the incident that took place on Sunday, July 2 in the Kishoreganj Laltila area under the Kakrabon police station in Gomati district.
The unfortunate incident occurred when a group of five children were playing near a steep mud hill that had recently been bulldozed. Suddenly, a mound of mud fell on them and all five girls got trapped under the debris.
Upon hearing their cries for help, locals rushed to the scene to rescue them.
Unfortunately, one girl died on the spot, the other four were rescued.
One other girl who received severe injuries was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Local MLA Jitendra Majumder visited the site of the tragedy and met with the family members of the victim at the Udaipur district hospital.
He assured them of all possible assistance and support from the government during this difficult time.
Terming the tragedy as very unfortunate, he said that action would be taken against those who bulldozed the mud hill in a way that made it dangerous and accident-prone.
