Only simple vegetarian meals prepared in an Assamese or local tribal style are to be served for lunch and dinner at any events, DCs told
The office of the Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today issued an order directing the Deputy Commissioner (DCs) of all the districts of the state to strictly avoid felicitating the Chief Minister with Gamocha, flower bouquets or gift items at events.
The directive also stated that only simple vegetarian meals prepared in an Assamese or local tribal style are served for lunch and dinner at any upcoming events or programmes that will be held in the districts.
Tea must be served in Kulhads (earthenware cups), and glass bottles or jugs should be used to store water rather than single-use plastic bottles, the CM office directive said.
The CM office said that the event’s organizer should light the lamp (Diya/Chaki) before the function begins, and it may stay lit throughout the event and no vote of thanks needs to be extended other than by the anchor.
Every time the Chief Minister spends night in any district for events/ meetings, the next morning’s activity should begin with the planting of a commercial tree.
