Trout farmers of Sikkim face tough time

Fish being raised on the farm either died or were swept away into nearby streams by rain water

Trout farmers in Uttarey region under Maneybung Dentam constituency in Sikkim have been hit hard by Saturday night’s incessant rain-triggered flash flood and landslides. The famous trout farm of Uttarey run by the state’s directorate of fisheries has been completely damaged where the raceways have been either buried under mud or slush due to flash floods. Fish being raised on the farm either died or were swept away into nearby streams by rain water causing huge loss to the farmers.
