Out of the 38,127 candidates who appeared for the examination, 31,365 candidates successfully cleared the Class 10 exams
Amidst ongoing unrest in Manipur, the results of the High School Leaving Certificate Examination (HSLC) 2023 were announced today, bringing some much-needed cheer to the state. This year’s results showcased an outstanding performance, with the best overall pass percentage of 82.83% seen in the past ten years. Out of the 38,127 candidates who appeared for the examinations, 31,365 candidates cleared the HSLC-2023.
Interestingly, girls outshined the boys by becoming the stars of the show, securing 56 out of the 83 spots in the merit list.
For the first time in history, Ratankumar Memorial School, popularly known as RM School showcased its academic prowess by securing the top four positions in the HSLC-2023 examination. Yengkhom Pareihanba emerged as the topper, securing the first rank with an exceptional score of 99% (594 out of 600), earning letter marks in all subjects. Notably, Pareihanba also topped the Mathematics and Higher Mathematics subjects. Omega Chanu Wangkhem and Venus Laiphrakpam, also from RM School, shared the second rank. Adding to the RM School’s glory, three students, namely Ophelia Chanu Ngangom, Sanchitra Thokchom, and Silivia Mutum, jointly secured the third rank. Mariya Rahaman, another student from RM Memorial School, secured the fourth rank. Remarkably, the school produced a total of 16 toppers, accounting for nearly 19% of the merit list.
The success of students from RM School is particularly noteworthy as it is located adjacent to Pitambara School, which had consecutively produced the HSLC toppers for the past two years. This year witnessed significant improvements, with pass percentages of 66.96% and 81.69% for government schools and government-aided schools.
Addressing concerns about the ongoing conflict and its impact on students, Education Minister Th. Basanta assured that all efforts would be made to provide education to those affected by the unrest. Minister Basanta emphasized that nodal officers had been appointed in all districts to ensure uninterrupted access to education for all students, regardless of their displacement due to the conflict.
