Former Union Home Secretary GK Pillai today triggered a fresh row after he favoured for issuing work permits to illegal migrants while maintaining that it is practically impossible to deport the infiltrators from Assam.

The former bureaucrat disclosed that though India has deported a few thousands of illegal migrants, it has been found that the illegal migrants again sneaked into India through the porous India-Bangladesh border.

Meanwhile, the former union home secretary also called for a practical solution to address the issue of illegal influx in Assam while stressing on the fact that plans must be chalked out to provide land rights and work permits to the illegal migrants.
