Goods train derails near New Jalpaiguri Station in Bengal’s Siliguri

A goods train derailed near the New Jalpaiguri railway station in West Bengal’s Siliguri on Wednesday. No injuries have been reported as two wheels of the goods train Damdim-NJP-Chilahati derailed near New Jalpaiguri station in Siliguri.

The incident occurred at around 11 am and caused a temporary disruption in rail movement on the same line, reported India Today.

Upon receiving information, senior railway officials, including Sanjay Chilwarwar, ADRM of the Katihar division, swiftly arrived at the scene. Preliminary investigations reveal that the incident occurred as the train traveled from New Jalpaiguri towards Siliguri Junction.

In view of this, the railway workers have already commenced the task of repositioning the train back on the tracks.
