Playing their second match of the tournament, both teams had started on the front foot, with Denmark’s performance much better than in their opener against Peru, where their first shot came after 27 minutes.
Australia will now have to win against Peru on June 26 to keep their round-of-16 hopes alive, while Denmark will face France on the same day.

Competing in a first World Cup since 1982, Peru’s dreams of reaching the last 16 is now over after a second defeat of the tournament.
Didier Deschamps men will continue on after winning its first two matches it has six points and is guaranteed of a spot in the round of 16 even before facing Denmark next week.
Argentina vs Croatia (Group D): While, Argentina was thrashed 3-0 by a spirited Croatia. Argentina’s World Cup hopes are left hanging by a thread after the loss at the Nizhny Novgorod.
Croatia took the lead after a horrendous blunder by Argentine goalkeeper Willy Caballero with an attempted chip over Ante Rebic that backfired badly, allowing the striker to lash home a thunderous volley.
Luka Modric then produced an electrifying 80th minute goal before Messi’s Barcelona team-mate Ivan Rakitic completed the scoring after Croatia sliced apart Argentina’s hapless defence in injury time.
The defeat leaves the Argentinians facing a repeat of their 2002 campaign when they exited at the group stage after being tipped as possible World Cup winners.
The two time World Champions need to beat Nigeria in their final Group D match on Tuesday and for other results to go their way to have any chance of reaching the last 16.
