#GuwahatiAccident: Erring contractor of AK Construction co arrested; 2nd arrest in less than 24 hours

The Assam Police has intensified its crackdown on erring officials of AK Constructions, the company who was given the contract for laying water pipelines for the water supply project being implemented by Japan international Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Guwahati and because of whose negligent construction work, a Class 11 girl student of a Guwahati school lost her life in freak road accident on June 8, and arrested contractor Parijat Saikia today.

This is the second arrest made within 24 hours in connection with the fatal accident. Police arrested B Balaji, the director of AK Construction, yesterday.
The Guwahati Metropolitan Drinking Water and Sewerage Board lodged an FIR against AK Construction Company after the fatal accident.

AK Construction Company is owned by M Venkateswara Rao. It is listed under Borewell Contractors in Guwahati and has been given the contracts for water supply project at 12 locations of the city. After the accident on June 8, it came to light that the construction company had not taken any clearances or approvals from the Transport Department and the Public Works Department before digging the road.
