Dulal Mazundar was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital in Soro. He is stable but not out of danger
Dulal Mazundar, a resident of Assam, came out alive from under debris after over 48 hours following one of the deadliest train accidents in recent Indian history that took place on Friday in Balasore district of Odisha.
Dulal is the fourth person from Assam to have survived the triple train accident that killed over 280 people and injured close to 1,000 people.
Dulal Mazundar, who suffered severe injuries during the collision, fell some distance away from the accident site.
His life hung in the balance until Monday morning when he was discovered alive by workers involved in the restoration of the damaged tracks.
He was then immediately rushed to the nearest hospital in Soro. Due to the severity of his head injuries, he was later transferred to the Balasore hospital for specialized care.
His condition is stable, but he is still not out of danger.
Another survivor from Assam, Rupak Das is also admitted at a hospital in Cuttack.
Yesterday, two other survivors from Assam, Hafizul Islam and his friend Samu Ali, both from Kalaigaon in Assam returned home from the jaws of death.
In response to the accident, the Odisha government has stated that the bodies of 170 deceased individuals have been placed in various hospitals across Bhubaneswar, including AIIMS, AMRI, SUM Hospital, Capital Hospital, KIMS Hospital, and Hi-Tech Hospital.
At this hour of crisis and when many are still looking for their loved ones, the survival of Dulal Mazundar surely comes as a ray of hope.
