Intl flights from Agartala to Bangkok, Malaysia, and Singapore soon: Tripura Transport Min

First international flight from MBB airport, Agartala, to Chittagong and Dhaka in Bangladesh will start this month, informed Minister Sushanta Chowdhury

Soon you will be able to fly not just to Chittagong and Dhaka from Agartala but also to other international destinations like Bangkok, Malaysia and Singapore.
Following the approval of international flights between Tripura and Bangladesh, Dr Manik Saha led Tripura Cabinet has now given the green signal to initiate additional international flights operating from the Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Airport in Agartala to other Southeast Asian countries like Bangkok, Malaysia, and Singapore.

Speaking to media, the Transport Minister of Tripura, Sushanta Chowdhury said that the government is considering connecting Tripura with the above Southeast Asian countries. “We have recently cleared a proposal to initiate flights with these destinations. Our subsequent plan is to establish air connectivity with various Southeast Asian nations, putting Agartala on the international aviation map,” he said.

Informing that the first international flight from MBB airport, Agartala, to Chittagong, the second largest city of Bangladesh, will start operating this month, Minister Chowdhury said that SpiceJet will be operating the international flights between the two destinations for which the state government will provide an annual gap fund of Rs 15 crores to the airline.

“An amount of Rs 3.75 crores has already been paid to SpiceJet. The construction of the immigration centre is almost complete,” he added.
Currently, four airlines are operating 34-36 flights daily from the MBB Airport, serving approximately 4,500 passengers per day.
