UDP chief Metbah Lyngdoh said, “I would like to make it very clear that as a party we had mentioned very clearly and we will never deny this also that in our manifesto the subject of reviewing of reservation policy is there. We will discuss this matter with the government since we are also a part of the government”.
UDP MLAs, MDCs and other senior leaders of the party also deliberated on the Roster system after the government presentation on the matter. Speaking on the discussions held within the party, Metbah Lyngdoh maintained that the base year must be 1972.
He said, “We felt that the implementation of roster should be henceforth prospectively from now onwards but by not maintaining the roster from 1972.”
Worth mentioning here that, the Voice of People’s Party (VPP) is holding an indefinite hunger strike since May 22 demanding that the state government review the Reservation Policy.
