Around 1,200 displaced persons settled in Kangpokpi shifted to Churachandpur

As many as 1,200 displaced persons from Churachandpur district who were evacuated from Imphal to Kangpokpi district were shifted back to Churachandpur district today.
Many residents of Churachandpur district were among the thousands of displaced persons evacuated to Kangpokpi district since May 5 and they stayed at the various relief camps in the Kangpokpi.
With the initiative of the Kangpokpi district administration in collaboration with the Kangpokpi District Relief Committee, Kangpokpi Town Relief Committee, Kangpokpi District Police, Assam Rifles, and the Central Reserve Police Force the residents of Churachandpur District who are willing to go to their district were shifted today with heavy security.
The shifted persons include men and women, young and old, children, and a few sick persons. They were transported in as many as 15 vehicles (12 vehicles from Kangpokpi town and the rest from the Motbung area).
Speaking to North East Live, Lunseh Kipgen, Chairman of the Kangpokpi District Relief Committee said that the shifting of displaced Churachandpur district people from Kangpokpi has been initiated by the district administration in collaboration with the various civil society organizations, district police, district and local relief committee with the security forces from Assam Rifles and the CRPF.
While conveying gratitude to the district administration, and district police for initiating such humanitarian gestures, Kipgen also thanked the Assam Rifles and the CRPF for providing security for safe passage. He also wishes that the people reach their respective homes safe and sound.
