The Assam Sub Inspector’s death case is getting murkier by the hour. In the latest twist, the eyewitness is untraceable within hours of he sharing what he had seen on
The mystery surrounding the death of Assam Police Sub Inspector Junmoni Rabha who died in a road accident on the night of May 15 is deepening and getting murkier every passing hour. In the latest twist, the man who came forward as an eyewitness of the accident that killed Junmoni has gone missing. This within hours of the man identified as Pranab Das, a driver by profession, told the media what he saw that night. Pranab has remained traceless since last night.
Recounting the moments before and after the mishap, Pranab said, “I saw a car parked by the roadside with its parking lights on. It was a small car similar to Alto. I thought it was a police vehicle and decided to wait. Few minutes later I saw 2 persons moving. Before the accident happened one of them (a man) stepped out from the front seat. He was wearing a black pant, black shoe, grey shirt. After he got down and 7 minutes later the accident took place. When I saw the person going, I thought I must leave. But at that very moment a truck with UP registration moving towards Jorhat came and hit the car head on. The car was parked on the right side with its parking lights on. I saw the truck driver fleeing. After 15 minutes the police reached the spot.”
Pranab said that from where he was standing he could not figure out who was on the driver’s seat. He insisted that Junmoni Rabha’s car was parked on the right side, and the truck was on the wrong side.
Meanwhile, CID officials arrived in Lakhimpur last night to probe the death case that is now becoming more like a story right out of a Bollywood or Hollywood movie. The 3-member CID team visited the accident site as well as the Nagaon Sadar outpost before arriving at Lakhimpur where the team will be thoroughly investigating the case.
Another team of CID officials interrogated Haibargaon IC Abhajyoti Rabha. It has come to light that SI Junmoni had stepped out with Abhajyoti before leaving Nagaon on that fateful night.
Undoubtedly, mystery shrouds the death of sub-inspector Junmoni Rabha as claims have been made that she was threatened by few cops after she busted a gold smuggling racket and she being named in the FIR as an accused despite the fact that she had busted the gold smuggling racket.
