Tipra Motha chief and Tripura royal scion Pradyot Debbarma is in a combative mood. Debbarma who has been fighting for a constitutional solution for the tribals of Tripura, has called upon the indigenous youth of the state to come out and protest and demand for Roman script for Kokborok and Kau Bru language.
“If the second generation of Tiprasa has to survive then we will have to write in Roman script. They want us to use Bangla script. We will not accept this. BJP’s Janjati Morcha, Congress’s ST cell, IPFT, all are mum. Tipra Motha will not stay mum. I appeal to all. Let’s have an urgent meeting and plan our future course of action,” Debbarma said in an audio message.
Debbarma, in a clear message, said that they would not take the decision to use Bangla script in exams etc. line down.
Debbarma has been supporting the use of Kokborok language in the Tripura Assembly.
He further said that people have lost faith in the government. They have been promising many things but all those turned out to be hollow promises.
“We will fight for our rights. This fight is not political but it is about our existence and survival. No one can stop us,” Debbarma said.
Debbarma called upon organizations like the TWF, TISF, YTF and TEF to hold an emergency meeting on the alleged imposition of another script on Kokborok.
Meanwhile, AK Mishra the Centre’s interlocutor for the Tiprasa issue is yet to visit the state. Mishra had to cancel his visit twice as he had to visit Manipur because of the violence that rocked the state.
