Meghalaya: UDP’s Synshar Lyngdoh Thabah wins Sohiong seat

Thabah polled 16,679 voted while NPP’s Samlin Malngiang got 13,257 to finish a close second
UDP’s Synshar Lyngdoh Thabah won the Sohiong Assembly seat by 3,422 votes. NPP’s Samlin Malngiang got 13,257 to finish a close second. With this win, UDP’s strength in the Meghalaya Assembly has gone up to 12.
The other candidates in the fray were Osborne Kharjana of Congress, Eric Kharbuki of BJP, StodingThabah of Trinamool Congress and SandondorRyntathiang of Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP).
Election for Sohiong constituency was cancelled because of the death of UDP candidate for the seat HDR Lyngdoh who died on February 20 ahead of the Meghalaya Assembly elections held in February 27.
The 23-Sohiong assembly seat is one of the 55 out of the 60 seats reserved for the Scheduled Tribe in the Meghalaya legislative assembly.
