Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton said that it is a 'Red Letter Day' and a moment of pride for Nagaland and particularly for Peren District

St. Xavier College, Jalukie, in Nagaland’s Peren district, has become the first college in Nagaland to secure the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC Grade-A category) with a CGPA of 3.12.

Speaking on the achievement, Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton said on Friday that it is a ‘Red Letter Day’ and a moment of pride for Nagaland and particularly for Peren District.

The Deputy Chief Minister said this while addressing the NAAC Grade “A” and Academic Closing Day here at St. Xavier College, Jalukie.

Lauding the college, the Deputy Chief Minister said it was a milestone achievement in the field of academic excellence. He called upon the college administration of Nagaland to emulate the good gestures and efforts that St. Xavier College, Jalukie, has exhibited and bring laurels to the state.

Patton also expressed his gratitude to the pioneers of the college for their visionary leadership and guidance that have made the college grow from scratch to this point, standing on top of the colleges in Nagaland as far as NAAC assessment is concerned.

Patton maintained that education does not confine itself to only bookish knowledge but concerns the all-round development of individuals.

He said education has to do a lot with human resource and personality development. In line with its motto “Learn and Serve” he said, it is felt that St. Xavier College under the Catholic Diocese of Kohima, Nagaland, is providing the required quality education with an optimum training and learning program.

Mentioning that with the fast advancement of modern technology, the world has become a global village and there are already good and bad effects of these advancements. Patton urged the student community in particular to make right use of these modern technologies in a beneficial way rather than ruining their future careers.

Congratulating Dr. Fr. Francis Cheerangal, the Principal of St. Xavier College, Jalukie for winning the Governor’s Commendation Certificate on January 26, 2023, for outstanding services to society, Patton attributed that under the leadership of Dr. Fr. Francis as the Principal of the College and with the utmost cooperation from the College, many accolades have been won, including the National NSS award from the President of India, the National Youth Parliament, and the best North-East NCC Cadet Extra.

Further, he called upon the people of Peren District and Jalukie in particular to extend their full cooperation towards the college and to all the staff for its further growth and progress.
