Assam: Teacher arrested for allegedly beating Class 2 student

The student who was allegedly beaten by the teacher is studying in Class 2.
A teacher has been arrested for allegedly physically assaulting a Class 2 student in Assam’s Cachar district. The incident has been reported from the Rongpur RasBihari LP School in Silchar.
Based on a FIR filed by the parents of the student, the teacher identified as Indaj Hossain Laskar was brought to the police station and interrogated. The student who was allegedly beaten by the teacher is studying in Class 2.
Cachar SP Numal Mahatto said,”The school’s name is Raj Bihari LP School, Rongpur. In that school a class 2 student was hit physically and tortured by a teacher, following which the student’s mother has filed a FIR. The teacher has been brought and we are interrogating him. Necessary lawful action will be taken.”
“We swung into action as soon as we recieved the information and took the student for medical attention. After that we handed his over to his legal guardian. On the basis of the FIR we are going ahead with our legal proceedings,” SP Mahatta added.
Police later arrested the teacher based on the FIR filed by the parents of the student.
It may be mentioned that in March this year, a lady teacher was accused of hitting a girl student in a private school in Assam’s Tinsukia district.
A case was registered against the teacher for allegedly beating up a girl student during the school hours.
Earlier, in January, the police had detained, a teacher of the Tistarpar LP School at Gauripur Education Block in Dhubri district for allegedly brutally beating students of class 2 and 3 without any reason. Police detained the teacher after receiving a complaint from guardian and school authorities as well.
