Manipur: 31 kgs of drugs worth over Rs 200 crores seized in a single day

In another major crackdown on drugs, Manipur police seized 16 kg of opium at Zaupi Camp and another 15 kg of heroin from Kangpokpi
In a major success for the Manipur government in its war against drugs, Manipur Police seized 31 kg of drugs worth over Rs 200 crores in a single day.
A team of Kangpokpi police seized 15.011 kg of heroin worth over Rs 100 crore from Manipur’s Kangpokpi district on Monday. The police team was led by Inspector Sunil Kumar Singh under the supervision of SP Th. Vikramjit Singh. Acting on a tip-off, the police team seized 351 soap cases filled with heroin during an intensive frisking conducted by them at the check post of Kangpokpi police station.
The police arrested four people, including a woman.
The soap cases with the heroin were stuffed in three bags and was being smuggled from Churachandpur to Senapati, police said.
In another crackdown, the Manipur police seized 16 kg of opium at Zaupi Camp, about 15 km from Singngat Police Station.
The police arrested two individuals linked with the alleged drug smuggling.
The arrested persons have been identified as Thangbiaklun Guite, 40, and Munluah, 42. Both are from Suangdoh village in Manipur’s Churachandpur district.
