In a significant development that might have far-reaching impact on the lives and careers of hundreds of young men and women of Arunachal Pradesh, the UPSC has refused to conduct the Group A and B exams, Ajay Chagti, Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms, Arunachal Pradesh said today.
Speaking to newspersons in Itanagar today, Ajay Chagti said, “We had written to the UPSC to conduct exams for Arunachal Group A and B posts. The Commission has replied back saying they would not conduct the exams. The ball has come back to us”.
The Secretary refused to divulge the reasons cited by UPSC for refusing to conduct the exams despite the state government requesting it to do so.
UPSC’s refusal to conduct the exams is a significant development also because this was one of the key demands of Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee (PAJSC) demanding exams be held in a free and fair manner.
The Secretary further informed the advertisements have been published for applications to the post of Chairman and 3 vacant posts of Members of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission. “We have given 3-4 weeks for application. We have added a proforma also for property declarations so that at the initial stage itself we know how much property he or she is holding not only in their name but also in the name of his or her family,” Secretary Chagti said.
