Kerala: Minor girl dies after mobile phone explodes while watching cartoons

An 8-year-old girl died after the mobile phone in which she was watching cartoons exploded in her hand in Thrissur district of Kerala on Monday.
The deceased girl has been identified as Adithya Sree, daughter of a former member of Pazhayannur block panchayat Ashok Kumar.
The incident occurred around 10.30 pm at her residence while she was watching videos holding the mobile phone by her hand. She suffered serious injuries on her right palm and face and died on the spot.
Police are yet to ascertain the exact cause of the explosion however, they said overheating of the battery of the cell phone might have led to the explosion as the girl was watching videos for a long time.
The exact cause of the explosion will be revealed only after forensic examination.
Family members of the victim girl said that the mobile phone was bought three years ago and and its battery was changed just three months ago.
Meanwhile, Police has registered an accidental death case.
