The BJP MLAs had complained about development and border issues in Manipur under CM N Biren Singh’s government

In a big development, the BJP in Manipur, led by Chief Minister N Biren Singh, has planned to take disciplinary action against the four party MLAs who have been camping in New Delhi for the last few days trying to build up a narrative against the government led by the Chief Minister.

The decision comes after four BJP MLAs who are in New Delhi demanded the intervention of the central leadership for a change of chief minister or at least a rejig in the state cabinet.

The BJP MLAs had complained about development and border issues in Manipur under CM N Biren Singh’s government.

However, Chief Minister N Biren Singh has not issued any comment on the matter.

The Chief Minister and his allies, who enjoy the support of 55 MLAs in the 60-member assembly, are less worried about the matter.

The 4 MLAs camping in New Delhi are Heirok MLA Thokchom Radheshyam Singh, Langthabal MLA Karam Shyam, Uripok MLA Khwairakpam Raghumani and Thoubal MLA Paonam Brojen Singh.

Of the 4 MLAs, MLA Thokchom Radheshyam Singh tendered his resignation as Advisor to Manipur’s CM on April 13 citing no responsibility given as the reason for his resignation.

On April 17, Manipur BJP MLA Karam Shyam, who is also campaigning in New Delhi, resigned from the position of Chairman, Tourism Corporation of Manipur, citing the same reason—no responsibility given.

Paonam Brojen Singh from Langthabal constituency, resigned from his official post of chairman of the Manipur Development Society (MDS) today.

While MLA Khwairakpam Raghumani from Uripok constituency, also among the BJP MLAs camping in Delhi, posted a picture on Facebook of a meeting with Union Minister of State for DoNER B L Verma,
“A team of BJP Manipur MLAs Shri Thokchom Radheshyam Singh, Shri Karam Shyam, Shri Paonam Brojen and Shri Khwairakpam Raghumani Singh today paid a courtesy visit to the Hon’ble Union MoS (Ministry of DONER & Ministry of Co-operation) Shri B. L. Verma Ji at his New Delhi residence. They discussed about the border and developmental issues of the State of Manipur,” the post said.

As per reports, it’s likely that the chief minister has already intervened in the matter, and disciplinary action is likely to be taken against the two MLAs who resigned from their posts without informing the central leader.
