Is dissent and discontent growing in Manipur BJP? Trouble seems to be brewing for Manipur BJP CM N Biren Singh. Three resignations in 7 days. Three BJP MLAs have stepped down from their official posts between April 13 and 20.

In another big jolt today, BJP MLA from Wangjing Tentha, Paonam Brojen Singh resigned from his official post of chairman of the Manipur Development Society (MDS) on Thursday.

“I tendered my resignation from the post of Chairman Manipur Development Society (MDS) Imphal due to some personal grounds,” MLA P. Brojen Singh wrote in his resignation letter.

His resignation comes within days of BJP MLAs Karam Shyam and Thokchom Radheshyam resigned from their respective official posts.

On April 13, Thokchom Radheshyam Singh MLA from Heirok constituency tendered his resignation as advisor to Manipur’s CM, citing no responsibility given as the reason for his resignation.

Another MLA, Karam Shyam from Langthabal constituency resigned from the chairman’s post of Manipur Tourism Corporation Limited on April 17, four days after Heirok MLA Thokchom Radheshyam stepped down as the adviser to CM N Biren Singh.

Four BJP MLAs, namely Thokchom Radheshyam Singh, Karam Shyam, Paonam Brojen Singh, and Khwairakpam Raghumani Singh (Uripok constituency), are camping in New Delhi to meet the central leadership, demanding the intervention of the leadership for a change of chief minister or at least a rejig in the state cabinet.

Meanwhile, Manipur BJP has called for a meeting of all its Ministers and MLAs to be chaired by its President A Sharda Devi.
