Top NSCN (K-YA) Commander arrested in Arunachal’s Longding district

A hardcore insurgent of NSCN (K-YA) has been arrested by security forces in Arunachal Pradesh last night.

The Self Styled Captain Wangbet Wangjen was arrested during a joint operation conducted by a team of Longding Battalion of Assam Rifles and Longding Police.

The cadre has confessed his involvement in threatening villagers and businessmen to extort money in the past.

As per inputs, he was also responsible for orchestrating illegal extortion drive in Longding on behalf of his faction.

Moreover, the arrested cadre was the key planner of the kidnappings of Gaon Burah (village head) of Laukxim village in Kanubari area of Longding and other individuals last year.

It may be mentioned here that Longding residents have been demonstrating and calling for peace after being enraged by the extortion, insurgency, and kidnapping actions carried out by the NSCN.

Wangbet Wangjen has been handed over to Longding Police Station for further investigation.
