Job aspirants who had qualified in the written examination of the Joint Recruitment Board of Tripura (JRBT) on Sunday agitated in front of the Agartala City Centre, demanding completion of the long-pending recruitment process by the mid of this year.

Holding placards, the agitators demanded the government to complete the recruitment process for JRBT, including the distribution of the appointment letters.

More than 1 lakh 31 thousand aspirants from Tripura and other states had appeared for Group C and D examinations conducted by the JRBT.

After more than two years, the results were declared in December last year, and the final process of recruitment of the selected candidates had started; however, after the declaration of the election date, the process had stopped.

The agitators viewed that as the election is over, the recruitment process should be immediately resumed so that the candidates can join the job by July, 2023.

Many of the protesters apprehended that despite getting selected, due to the delay in the process, they may lose the opportunity as they have crossed the age limit to join the government job.

The JRBT, under the aegis of the Directorate of Employment Services and Manpower Planning, had conducted two examinations of Group-D (2,410 posts) and Group-C (2,500 posts) on August 20 and 22, 2021, respectively.

A total of 1,59,713 candidates were listed as appearing for these exams, out of which over 1,31,000 had appeared for the exam.
