Lloyd Nehemiah who hails from Meghalaya but was living in Bengaluru, died on Tuesday, two days after being beaten up by three young men for objecting to loud music they were playing on Sunday midnight.

According to police, 54-year-old Lloyd Nehemiah had complained about playing loud music and creating a ruckus by the young men said to be techies.

The trio pushed Lloyd and when he fell down they started beating him. Some neighbours and Lloyd’s sister tried to intervene and stop the men but they too were attacked. The incident took place at Vignan Nagar, Bengaluru.

Lloyd, brother of Colonel David Nehemiah who is currently serving in Kashmir, was then admitted to a hospital in Bengaluru for the injuries he had sustained from the thrashing.

Unable to bear the shock, Lloyd’s mother was admitted to the ICU.

Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma has condoled Lloyd’s death and conveyed his deepest condolences to the family. The CM also said that the A’chik community has ‘lost a dear brother’.

“Our A’chik community has lost a dear brother & I stand with them to offer my deepest condolences to his wife Drecie, his daughters and his loved ones. May he rest in peace”, CM Sangma’s tweet read.

All three accused — identified as Ram Samanth Rai, Basudev Samanth Rai and Abhishek Singh- were arrested after a complaint was filed at HAL police station, Bengaluru on Sunday.
