Arunachal: People celebrate Choskor Puja, pray for wellbeing, good harvest

People of Dirang, Dzong and Yewang villages of West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh celebrated Choskor Puja with devotion and enthusiasm
People of Dirang, Dzong and Yewang villages of West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh celebrated Choskor Puja with devotion and enthusiasm. They offered prayers for good health, a good harvest, prosperity and to keep natural calamities at bay. The people observed the Puja following all rituals.
The Monpa word Choskor is amalgamation of ‘chos’ which means sacred scripture, and ‘kor’ stands for circumambulation. Led by learned Lamas of the villages and monks, hundreds of villagers participated in the religious procession carrying portraits of learned spiritual gurus and holy scriptures. The procession covered 15 kms started in the morning from Khasthung Gonpa of Dirang village and reached Yewang Gonpa and returned back to Khasthung Gonpa where it culminated in the evening.
During the procession, hundreds of people sought blessings touching the sacred scriptures with their heads. Special players were held at both the monasteries.
