MHA takes strong exception to growing cases of cyber crimes; in talks with states to formulate action plan

The Union Home Ministry has taken strong exception to the growing cases of cyber crimes across the nation. In fact the Home Ministry is in close touch with all the states, for working out on a plan to successfully thwart such threats, where the commoners are the most vulnerable.

Minister of State for Home Affairs, Ajay Kumar Mishra, who attended the 51st Passing Out Parade of the North Eastern Police Academy highlighted that considerable number of steps have already been taken up while responding to a query on enhancing the performance of the cyber cells of the police.

Mishra said,”Home ministry is talking to the states in this regard. And, we are also opening Forensic University campuses in every region and we are receiving a lot of co-operation in this regard. We have already started working on certain things. Teams to prevent human trafficking have already been formed in almost all districts, we are also working extensively on setting up forensic labs.”

The union minister of state for Home Affairs also said,”Lots of efforts have been initiated, such as immediate filing of FIR into cyber crime cases lodged by the citizens, e-prosecution etc. Lots of such initiatives have been launched, where we can make optimum use of technology, for including forensics into our investigations, for increasing conviction rates, punishing the guilty and to ensure that nothing such sort of happens with the innocent citizens; but from such viewpoints the challenges are increasing.”

Pointing out that the government is taking several steps to reduce the vulnerability of citizens to cyber attacks, the minister said its policies are aimed at ensuring an open, secure, reliable and accountable internet for users.

Besides, in his address, Ajay Kumar Mishra also spoke about the growing challenges on the issue of cyber security and how the government has formulated the National Cyber Security Strategy, which holistically addresses the issue of security of national cyberspace.

A total of 25 Deputy Superintendents of Police from Nagaland, 02 Deputy Superintendents of Police from Tripura, 08 Deputy Superintendents of Police from Arunachal,15 Deputy Superintendents of Police and 164 Sub-Inspectors from Tripura ,1 SI from Arunachal pradesh, ,94 SIs from Assam, 69 SI ( APRO Communication) took part in the 51st Passing Out Parade of the North Eastern Police Academy.

The police officers were part of the contingent who completed the 51st Basic Course, which commenced last April2022.
