If the Government of India is not willing to appoint an interlocutor for talks concerning the TIPRA Motha‘s demand seeking a ‘constitutional solution’ then the party which is an Opposition in Tripura also knows what role it can play as an opposition, said TIPRA Motha chief and Tripura royal scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarma today.

” I have not asked anything for myself during my political journey so far. Whatever I have been demanding is for my Tiprasa people. If the government of India is not willing to declare the name of the interlocutor then TIPRA Motha which is in the Opposition in Tripura also knows what role it can play as an opposition,” said Prdyot Debbarma before leaving for Guwahati along with his party leaders, MDCs and MLAs this afternoon to hold a key meeting with NEDA Convenor and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on the matter.

It may be mentioned here that Pradyot Debbarma has earlier this week threatened Centre that he will fast unto death if the centre (Home Ministry) does not announce the name of the interlocutor on March 28, 2023.

However, hours after his announcement of fasting unto death, he received calls from Union Home Minister Amit Shah and NEDA Convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma and they discussed the matter with him, Pradyot Debbarma told Northeast Live.

Meanwhile, Supporters of TIPRA Motha have been assembling on the national highway close to Baramura, also known as Hatai Katoir, since last night. They are waiting for the decision of Pradyot Debbarma and preparing to join him on his hunger strike. They are also planning to block the highway.

Earlier, in his message to the Tiprasa people of the state, Pradyot Debbarma said, ” My dear Tiprasa people you have given much love and respect to me. I can not ditch you. If it requires me to go on a hunger strike from tomorrow till I breathe my last to make the Government of India listen to us and address our concerns I will do it.”

The TIPRA Motha chief further said that he loves Tiprasa people too and that he is ready to die for them.

” I love you all too. I am waiting. If by tomorrow no conclusion comes, I will fast unto death but will give you all something before dying,” he added.

It may be also be noted that earlier in the week, Pradyot Debbarma took to Twitter and informed that Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a telephonic conversation with him wherein he assured to announce an interlocutor for the talks on March 27. However, no such announcements were made till now.
