Manipur: Man shoots down person who tried to attack his family with an axe

The incident took place at Changangei Uchekon under Lamphel Police Station in Imphal West District this morning.
In a sensational incident, a man was shot dead by another man when the former had tried to attack the shooter’s family with an axe at their home.
The incident took place at Changangei Uchekon under Lamphel Police Station in Imphal West District this morning.
The deceased who was the attacker, has been identified as Govin, believed to be hailing from Assam. He was shot dead when he allegedly tried to attack the family of Laishram Thoiba with an axe.
As per inputs, the incident occured when Govin allegedly entered the residential premises of Laishram Thoiba and picked up an axe in a bid to attack the family members. Locals reportedly tried to intervene and stop Govin, but things did not stop there.
Soon Laishram Thoiba’s son Laishram Yeningpiba, in an attempt to save his family members shot at Govin with a licensed double barrel gun leaving him dead on the spot.
Meanwhile, Laishram Yeningpiba has been arrested by the police. Further investigation is underway and more details regarding the identity of the deceased and the incident is awaited.
