In a shocker from Eastern Assam’s Jorhat district, a pregnant lady was allegedly assaulted by drunk miscreants last night. The incident of the miscreants assaulting the lady has been caught on CCTV camera.
As narrated by the victim, the individuals were consuming liquor in front of her house, but soon the situation turned ugly when she and her family members protested.
The victim alleged and said,”I am pregnant, they kicked me in my stomach. They were in front of our gate when we were coming. I entered the premises (of our house) and asked them as to why they were creating nuisance. Then they took charge at me. They also got into a scuffle with my father in law. And the girl who was present there pulled my hair.”
Meanwhile, the victim’s husband revealed as to what transpired into the untoward incident. He alleged,”1 girl and 4-5 boys were consuming liquor in the middle of the road. So I had to blow the horn of the car, but they verbally abused us. My wife was dragged as she was pulled off by her hair and than assaultedtoo. She is 4 months pregnant. We are a family of 4 members and we all were physically assaulted. We are still waiting for justice.”
Reeling under severe trauma, the family has sought help of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and DGP GP Singh and look into the matter.
On the other hand, Jorhat SP Mohan Lal Meena said that the police is on the job and actively looking into the matter. SP Meena informed the incident was reported on the evening of Holi. SP Meena said,”The inciden was reported on the day of Holi. Next day we observed the CCTV footage, and the complainant, Kirti Kamal Bordoloi was coming to his apartment. In the middle of the road there were 3 boys and a girl. They had a verbal altercation and what followed was physical assault. We have received complaints from both the sides. We received the complaint filed by Kirti Kamal Bordoloi. His wife was also there who is pregnant.”
The Jorhat SP further added 3 individuals involved in the incident have been apprehended.
SP Mohan Lal Meena said,”This morning we have apprehended the 3 boys. We will interrogate them and there are still some CCTV footages left to be examined from other angles which we will look into. We will also record the statement of the guard. Who ever is guilty we will take action as per law. As of now we have apprehended them but not arrested. We will take the decision to arrest them after once again examining the CCTV footage and questioning the guard present there at that point of time.”
