In fact the NEDA convenor added that the Union Home Minister had also met some other important leaders before meeting Pradyot.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and NEDA convenor has made it amply clear that the BJP has nothing to do with TIPRA Motha politically.

Amid speculations over a new political alignment after Union Home Minister and BJP national president JP Nadda meeting TIPRA Motha chief Pradyot Kishore Debbarma on Wednesday, Himanta Biswa Sarma maintained that politics was not the agenda of the meeting.

Sarma speaking to newspersons said,”First of all, we have nothing to do with TIPRA Motha politically. We have not discussed politics with TIPRA Motha. I was present in that discussion.”

In fact the NEDA convenor added that the Union Home Minister had also met some other important leaders before meeting Pradyot. “Home MInister Amit Shah and the delegation of TIPRA Motha definitely met, we met them yesterday. Before that Amit Shah has also met few other important tribal leaders.”

Speaking further on yesterday’s meeting, Himanta Biswa Sarma said,”He (Amit Shah)has given his certain viewpoints to TIPRA Motha, similarly TIPRA Motha also suggested certain things to Home Minister. Now, further discussions will take place.”

Himanta Biswa Sarma assured,”We will try to resolve all the grievances of the tribal people of Tripura within the territorial boundary of the state of Tripura. But that discussion was not political and no political significance should be attached to that. That is why we met him after the oath taking ceremony and not before it. Beacuse BJP along with IPFT, have our own majority.”

Sarma affirmed that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has taken the tribal problem of Tripura very seriously while reiterating that the latter is also keen to resolve other issues dogging the Northeast region for decades. The NEDA convenor said,”So these are complicated things, he is doing one by one, so now he has brought the tribal problem of Tripura into his agenda very strongly.”
