Assam: Son helps mother kill father, burn body

The mother-son duo had committed the crime on the night of 'Mahashivratri'
In yet another sensational murder case from Assam, a woman along with her son allegedly mercilessly killed her husband with a bamboo pole and a machete then burned the dead body and later dumped the partially charred body into a nearby river.
The case has been reported from Kalaigaon in Darrang district of Assam. The victim has been identified as Horuram Nath while the accused have been identified as Purnima Nath and her son Mitu Nath, residents of Hatibandha village.
As per inputs, the incident has come to light on February 23—six days after the crime—which was committed on February 18.
On noticing the partially charred body in a river, locals informed police, and accordingly police recovered the victim’s partially burned body from the river on February 23.
Police later detained the mother-son duo for interrogation and during the interrogation, they confessed to committing the crime and told police that they had killed him on the night of ‘Mahashivratri’ (an auspicious day to worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati), then burned the dead body and later dumped the partially charred body into the river, said police.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case against them. However, the motive behind committing the crime is yet to be known.
