With the onset of the monsoon season, the spate in water levels of the Barak river has triggered erosion in the Polarpar village at Algapur constituency in Assam’s Hailakandi district.

Hundreds of people have been displaced due to severe erosion. Large tracts of agricultural land have also been washed away by the turbulent river.
