Mawhati is one of the 60 Legislative Assembly constituencies of Meghalaya state in India. Mawhati is a Village in Umsning Block in Ri Bhoi district and is reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribes. It falls under Shillong Lok Sabha constituency. It is situated 30km away from sub-district headquarter Umsning (tehsildar office) and 50km away from district headquarter Nongpoh. The estimated population of Mawhati in 2023 is 537.
National People’s Party (NPP) candidate Dasakhiatbha Lamare is the sitting MLA of the Constituency. He won the seat for the party in 2018 Assembly elections with 6,365 votes by defeating then incumbent candidate and ex-Chairman of the proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) Julius Kitbok Dorphang with a margin of 204 votes.
