Gambegre is one of the 60 Legislative Assembly constituencies of Meghalaya. Gambegre is a Town and Block in West Garo Hills district and is reserved for individuals belonging to Scheduled Tribes (ST). It is also a constituent of the Tura Lok Sabha. There are a total of 158 villages in this Block. The estimated population of Gambegre in 2023 is 44,281.
Former Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and now Congress candidate Saleng A Sangma is the sitting MLA of the constituency. He won the seat for NCP in the 2018 Assembly elections with 7,291 by defeating Congress candidate Sadhiarani M. Sangma with a margin of 136 votes.
